One week in the Western Isles from Tenerife

The cliffs of Los Gigantes
The cliffs of Los Gigantes [Click on the pic for more images of this yacht charter itinerary]

Day 1 : Check-in and overnight at Marina del Sur, Las Galletas

Day 2 : Marina del Sur > San Sebastian, La Gomera [28 NM]

Set sail for San Sebastian on the island of La Gomera. San Sebastian was the starting point for Christopher Columbus for his first trip to America. On the island, you will find Columbus’ old house which has been turned into a museum. Stay overnight in Puerto de Playa Santiago and enjoy the delicious local cuisine. In the center of the island, you can discover the Garajonay National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since 2012, the island’s Anaga area has been recognized as a Biosphere Reserve.

Day 3: San Sebastian > Puerto de Tazacorte, La Palma [60 NM]

Discover Puerto de Tazacorte on La Palma. This is the most exotic of the Canary Islands. Formed by a volcanic crater, it offers an impressive coastline of cliffs that flow into the sea and black volcanic sand beaches. La Palma is nicknamed “Pretty Isle” by the locals because of its lush vegetation, clear waters and many species of flowers that contrast with the volcanic nature of the island.

Day 4: Puerto De Tazacorte > La Restinga, El Hierro [65 NM]

Head south of La Palma to explore the spectacular landscapes of La Restinga. It is the main seaside resort and fishing port of El Hierro, known for its colorful boats. It is also famous for its diving centers. You will find two small black sand beaches near the fishing port, an ideal place to discover the clear sea of the smallest Canary Island.

Day 5: La Restinga > Puerto de Valle Gran Reyiseros, La Gomera [45 NM]

Set sail for Puerto de Valle Gran Reyiseros, a small town on the western coast of La Gomera. Enjoy relaxing on beautiful black sand beaches and the exotic feel from the palms and banana plantations. Or, for the more adventurous, explore several hiking trails that run from the village of La Calera to the Garajonay National Park. Don’t miss the hippy craft market every Sunday.

Day 6: Puerto de Valle Gran Reyiseros, La Gomera > Los Gigantes, Tenerife [25 NM]

Explore Los Gigantes, a place that lives up to its name. It is a must-see highlight during a cruise in Tenerife. Here, huge cliffs 300 to 600m high plunge into the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean. You will have a magnificent view, not to be missed! This magnificent view, which is really something to see. You will enjoy the superb colors of these breathtaking cliffs.

Day 7: Los Gigantes > Las Galletas [42 NM]
