The Charter Area

St Martin combines Caribbean and European food and culture with a fascinating colonial history. With world class restaurants, casual beach bars, legendary beaches and live music this island gives you a unique taste of this beautiful part of the world.

The sailing conditions make this a destination for reasonably experienced sailors and there is with a good mix of island hopping and exciting blue water cruising that should keep everyone happy.

• Season •

The main season runs from November through to the end of June. High season is limited to the two holiday weeks over Christmas/New Year. August, September and October are the Caribbean hurricane season and we don't recommend you charter during these months.

• Weather • Climate • Wind •

Temperatures are consistent year round and range between 29C - 31C . The area enjoys an average 8 hours of sunshine a day. Rain occurs in all months of the year but is most intense from July to October, when there is also the possibility of hurricanes. St Martin sits in the trade wind belt. During the season these reliable winds from the NE - E vary from 15 - 25 knots. They provide for great sailing and give a refreshing breeze ashore

• Onshore Don't Miss •

The island is renowned for it fusion cuisine. These are the top three rated restaurants as of July 2020;

Restaurant L'Auberge Gourmande, Grand Case
Rice upon a time, Marigot [Korean]

Speed down the world’s steepest zip line. The St. Maarten zip line is the world’s steepest, dropping more than one thousand feet in elevation along 2,800 feet of cable and serving up spectacular views of the island the entire way down. Known as the Flying Dutchman it is found in the Rockland Estate eco-adventure park operated by Rainforest Adventures

No trip to the Caribbean is complete without tucking into some rum, and Topper’s Rhum is one of the most unique places to do it. The six-thousand foot distillery pumps out about 50 different flavours, and incredibly, most of the operation is done by hand, and guests can get an up-close look at the process during one of Topper’s fun distillery tours and even test out the bottling and labeling process.

Leave the island with the ultimate souvenir: a custom scent to remind you of your time in St. Martin. Tijon Perfumerie on the French side produces fine perfumes, colognes and skin care items in their on-site lab, and also offers a 60 or 90 minute perfume making class. Staff guide visitors through the process of selecting scents from their collection of 300 oils, which are then crafted into their very own fine fragrance to take home.

• Marine Wildlife •

The Caribbean sea is rich in marina wildlife. There's a great chance you might meet friendly dolphins. Bottlenose, Fraser, spotted and spinners all live here. Twenty six species of whales exist in the Caribbean including pilot whales, sperm whales, false Orcas and humpbacks. Six of the seven species of turtle make the Caribbean their home including green turtles, hawksbills, leatherbacks and loggerheads. There are great opportunities for snorkeling over coral reefs that abound with exotic fish. You might see queen angelfish, rock beautys or the stoplight parrotfish
