• Season •
The season runs from mid-April through to the end of October. The first three weeks of August can be considered peak season. There's a lot to be said for considering the "shoulder" season from mid-May to mid-June, and September through to mid-October. Why? It's very much cheaper. You will avoid the crush of high/peak season. The weather is still very pleasant and there is a better chance of wind and some great sailing
• Weather • Climate • Wind •
Split has hot, moderately dry summers and mild, wet winters,
which can occasionally feel cold, because of the strong northern
wind bura. It receives more than 2,600 sunshine hours annually. July
is the hottest month, with an average high temperature around 30 °C
(86 °F)
You can see fuller details on the climate of Split here
• Marine Wildlife •
You can expect to see dolphins. Whenever I sail in the Med I'm
always bumping into them! Well not literally of course but the boat
is often surrounded by a pod jumping alongside and diving under the
bow
Other species that can be found in the Mediterranean Sea include; fin whales, sperm whales, grey sperm whales, pilot whales, Cuvier’s beaked whales, bottlenose dolphins, striped dolphins, common dolphins and loggerhead turtles
In the picture, clockwise from the top left; Common Dolphins, Mediterranean Monk Seal, Sperm Whale and last but not least a Loggerhead Turtle

Embark from
Marina Baotic, Segat Donji [Click on the pic for more images of this yacht charter itinerary]
DDay 1: Check-in at Marina Baotic, Segat Donji.
Marina Baotic is a major charter base. Showers and toilets are super
clean. But there's little in the way of restaurants. Trogir, a
fifteen minute walk away, is lovely and charter boats are available
from marinas in the town itself. When I went in July it was very
busy and I would recommend booking a table for dinner
Day 2:
Lunch - We tied up on a pontoon at Milna and took a walk around the
small town Overnight - Stari Grad Harbour. Lovely town, probably
my favourite stop on the whole trip. Excellent dinner with great
service at Konoba Zvijezda Mora
Day 3: Lunch - Marinkovac
in the Pakleni Is Overnight - Sveta Nedilja on Hvar Island. There
is a small private harbour that adjoining the Bilo Idro restaurant.
There is a wine cellar attached to the restaurant that you can
visit. You will need to call ahead for a place. The food was great
but we had menus thrust upon us before we had the lines attached to
the quay! And we were told what wines we were drinking. Food good -
service a little overpowering to put it politely. Some of the more
energetic crew members hiked up to a hillside cave. Some amazing
views from the top of the hill
Day 4: Lunch - Loviste a
very pleasant bay. There are some mooring balls that belong to
restaurants ashore Overnight - Korčula. A vey attractive town and
a major pull for tourists which made it very busy the evening we
went. We anchored south of the island of Badija, about 1.5NM E of
Korcula. The anchorage is served by water taxis. We used Boris - 385
91 522 5287. I think they are doing work on the marina which
severely limits the amount of berths available. There is another
anchorage just to the E of Korcula but I was told they charge. I
think it was €30, so not expensive
Day 5: Lunch - Uvala
Gradina on Korčula. Another nice stop for a swim Overnight - Vela
Luka, Korčula. With hindsight I'd probably consider Lastovo as an
alternative to Vela Luka even though it does give you a 40NM sail to
Komiza. The town of Vela Luka has very little to recommend it and
the marina is exposed to westerlies. They seem to have forgotten to
build the breakwater! We spent a very uncomfortable night there
Day 6: Lunch - Stiniva. A lovely stop for a swim with an
opening in the cliff to a small beach Overnight - Komiža, on Vis
island. We picked up a mooring ball as the harbour was full when we
arrived at 18.00. Lovely town, second only to Stari Grad in my
opinion. Very good food in Restaurant Riblji, second or third place
after the breakwater.
Day 7: Lunch Blue Lagoon. another
great spot for swimming/snorkelling Return to Marina Baotic. We
walked into the town of Trogir and had dinner at Restaurant
Kamerlengo. I had octopus cooked over a wooden grill and it was
superb!
Day 8: Disembark Marina Baotic
